Samoan language week

This week is Samoan language week.

We have been enjoying learning some new phrases and greetings in Samoan.

Our big book this week is called 'Lavalava' and we have enjoyed reading about who wears a lavalava and what activities they do.

We have also been working on our counting.

Some children chose to make Samoan counting posters during Investigation time.

Don't they look amazing!

Today some of the children from Room 4 came and taught us a Samoan Sasa.  We had heaps of fun and enjoyed learning the movements of the Sasa.
Have a look at how amazing the big kids were at teaching us and how clever we were at learning.
Later on in the week we will be doing some Samoan visual arts activities.
We look forward to sharing them with you soon!

  2. Great job Room 14! Thank you for making such wonderful Samoan 1-10 posters. You are very clever at learning how to do a Sasa so quickly. :-)

  3. Arlo and Jesse had a big chat about how they'd both had a go at this and that it was quite tricky but lots of fun! Aren't the room 4 kids clever!
